Our Club President Arif Alibhai recently met with Dr. Arnold Kibuuka (centre), a pediatrician from Uganda who trained in Edmonton through support from the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield and the Rotary Club of Edmonton Sunrise. Today, Dr. Kibuuka continues to make an incredible impact, not only as a pediatrician, but also as the founder of a kindergarten in Kampala serving children with special needs. He shared how his time with Rotarians in Edmonton inspired his ongoing commitment to service and community development.

Also pictured (right) is Rotarian David Ggava, who visited our club in June. During Arif’s visit, David joined him in touring Arnold’s school, and his home club, the Rotary Club Of Kasubi, will now be supporting Arnold’s work locally.

From Edmonton to Kampala, this is what Rotary fellowship and sustainable impact look like.

Mike Brandingen was an active member of the RC Edmonton Mayfield 2000 - 2022, where he served as Club President and was engaged in fundraising and service projects.  He spearheaded the greatly propular Bayou BBQ for 12 as an auction item that consistently auctioned off for big dollars for the many worthy causes the club supported.

Mike moved over to the Whyte Avenue club and then when lots of life circumstances changes for him, he and wife Deb were less involved in Rotary.  We are thrilled the the IMPACT club format appealed to Mike and he chose to rejoin the fold and bring his fantastic sense of humour and sarcasm to our club.  Marilyn Mucha sponsored him to rejoin and Jeanette Bancarz - Membership Chair led the induction at our meeting on Oct. 15.   Welcome back Mike.

Mark Lindsay - newest member of the RC Edmonton Mayfield, comes over from YEG Passport club and brings a wealth of talent and enthusiam to our club.  His skills and background are prime examples of how one can transition into a new career and build on previous experience. (26) Mark Lindsay | LinkedIn Originally a chemist, and production manager, Mark went back to UoA for a degree in Education and taught in Junior High as well as a school focussed on brilliant students with other challenges.  Now, as an Executive Coach and "people developer", he brought his “A” game to harness the energy and enthusiasm of 30 students at Eastglen H.S. to bring their Charter for an Interact club to a reality.  Former YEG Passport President Marilyn Mucha presented Mark with a Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding dedication in working with the students to bring Rotary to our youth. Mark intends to stay as the club liaison with Eastglen Interact.   Thank you, Mark, for your leadership.
