Last meeting recap
At our last meeting, we welcomed Wendy McDonald, COO of Inclusion Alberta, Past President of our club, and founder of the Rotary Employment Partnership (REP).
This year marks the 25th anniversary of REP, which began at Mayfield and has since created over 950 jobs for individuals with developmental disabilities in Alberta.
Due to recent government funding cutbacks, Inclusion Alberta is seeking support for their Family Conference on April 17–18, 2026.
Member Marc Hanatschek donated $100 and challenged others to match him to help raise additional funds. To participate, visit CanadaHelps, select our General Fund, and write “REP” in the comments section.

WHAT ARE DISASTER RESPONSE GRANTS?
When communities are affected by catastrophes, The Rotary Foundation supports relief and recovery efforts through grants from the Rotary Disaster Response Fund. Disaster response grants of up to US$25,000 fund relief and recovery efforts in areas that have had a natural disaster within the past six months. These efforts can include providing basic items such as water, food, medicine, and clothing. Districts that have had a disaster and are qualified to receive Rotary grants can apply for a grant to launch their own projects or work with established relief organizations. Think about how you want to take part in grant programs. Which one interests you?

Days for Girls - Belize
IMPACT member Marilyn Mucha delivered the Days for Girls program to more than 100 students at Ladyville Technical High School. The sessions included age-appropriate sexual health education and the distribution of reusable menstrual kits to each participant. Read more here.
Belize Playground #50
The 50th playground built in Belize through the Rotary International District 5370 Playground Program is now complete, and the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield was proud to be part of it. Read more here.
Upcoming Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Stop Hunger Meal Packaging
Date: March 7, 2026
Location: Salvation Army Church - 165 Liberton Drive, St. Albert
Join us for the annual Stop Hunger Meal Packaging event. Our goal is to produce 70,000 meals, with 15–20% supporting the local food bank and the remainder sent internationally to communities where we’re installing playgrounds.
Teams of 8 volunteers will package meals, and we’re aiming to field two teams, with hopes of involving Interactors from Eastglen and/or Jasper Place. Timing will be confirmed soon, with morning and afternoon shifts of about 3.5 hours each.
Edmonton South Impact Gala
Date: March 12, 2026 Location: Edmonton Expo Centre
The Rotary Club of Edmonton South has extended an invitation to our members to attend their upcoming Impact Gala.
This signature event celebrates Rotary’s impact locally and internationally, with proceeds supporting neonatal care initiatives here in Edmonton and in Uganda. It’s a great example of Rotary clubs coming together to create meaningful, life-changing impact for mothers and newborns.
