Access to menstrual products remains a barrier to education for many girls worldwide. By providing practical resources and accurate information, the program helps reduce absenteeism, increase confidence, and support long-term well-being.
Marilyn is a trained Days for Girls ambassador and previously delivered the program in Suchitlán, Colima, Mexico in 2022. In Belize, school coordination and transportation were arranged with the support of Belize Sunrise Rotary Club member Iselma Sosa-Martinez, whose club has expressed strong interest in expanding the initiative to additional communities.
The project was also presented at a Rotary club meeting during the visit, generating enthusiasm for broader collaboration.
Looking ahead, there is interest in establishing a local Days for Girls chapter in Belize, empowering women to sew and distribute the kits themselves with support from Rotarians. This model creates not only access to essential health supplies, but also skills development, local ownership, and sustainable impact.
