This August, members of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield had the opportunity to volunteer with KARA Family Resource Centre’s Kicks for Kids program, helping local children get ready for the school year with a brand-new pair of shoes.

Wayne, Rose, and Issa helped families as they arrived at the Northeast Edmonton location. Each child was able to select two pairs to try on and, once they found a pair they liked, take their new shoes home.

One of the families our volunteers helped had eight children, showing how meaningful this support can be for families facing financial challenges.

KARA has been supporting families in Northeast Edmonton for more than 40 years, creating programs and opportunities that strengthen families and build community connections.

We’re grateful to Wayne, Rose, and Issa for giving their time and helping make the day special for local kids. Sometimes, a small act of kindness can make a big difference.
