Sometimes making an impact means rolling up your sleeves and getting to work… and in this case, letting a little air out!
Sports Central recently received a donation of nine pallets of new basketballs. The basketballs will be part of a partnership with the Edmonton Police Service and RCMP, who will create ball kits with pumps to distribute to children in the community who may not have access to sports or play equipment.
There was just one small problem: 306 fully inflated basketballs take up a lot of space!
That’s where the IMPACT Rotarians and their families stepped in. Wayne McKutcheon and his son Malcolm, Mike Brandingen, Marilyn Mucha and her sister Terry, and family friend Danny spent just over two hours helping Sports Central deflate all 306 basketballs.
That’s a lot of balls, and a lot of teamwork!
The basketballs will soon have a second life, making their way into the hands of kids across the community and giving them an opportunity to play, be active, and have fun.
