On Saturday, March 7, members of RCEM and IMPACT joined forces with other Rotary clubs in St. Albert for Stop Hunger 2.0, hosted by the Rotary Club of St. Albert at the Salvation Army.
Across two shifts (morning and afternoon), more than 160 volunteers came together to package over 70,000 meals.

Each team worked assembly-line style, combining rice, lentils, dried vegetables, and spices into sealed meal packages that will be distributed both locally and internationally. It was a simple process with a powerful impact: everyone had a role, and every bag packed meant another meal for someone in need.

One of the key takeaways was witnessing how many different community groups and businesses were working together for a common goal, a true definition of community.
Our RCEM and IMPACT volunteers included Pepe Villareal, Wayne McKutcheon and wife Sandyne, Basel Abou Hamrah, former Rotarian Brenda McCullough, Marilyn Mucha, her sister Terry, and friend Danny Maradyn, along with our own club staffer Dean Sagatto. Also helping out were Interactors from Eastglen High. Dibora, Salim & Samiya joined Zinat, who coordinated their engagement. Special thanks to Pepe for helping organize transportation for the students.

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered and made the day possible.

We’re already looking forward to doing it again next year.
