At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Marie-Laure Polydore, Business Development Manager at Futurpreneur.

Thank you, fellow members of the Edmonton Mayfield Rotary Club, for the beautiful gift basket and "get well" card following my foot/ankle surgery. My recovery is slowly progressing and I hope to rejoin our meetings in person in a couple of months.

Fundraising Proposal. Action Needed
The Rotary Clubs of Edmonton Sunrise and Edmonton Mayfield have joined forces to draft a proposal for Collaborative Fundraising, which outlines potential events and strategies.If you haven't sent your feedback yet, please review the proposal HERE.
Maureen has asked that all members take just a few minutes to respond to these questions, even if your response is that you are not able to participate. This will be important moving forward to determine our next steps:
Would you like to see a “Fork It Over” or “Planes, Trains and Auctionable” type event annually or bi-annually? Why? What concerns would you like to share?
Of the four options proposed, which ones would you be prepared to support by helping on the planning committee, inviting participants, buying tickets and/or sourcing auction items?
Are there any ideas listed under Types of Auctions, Complimentary Tasting Experiences and Out-of-the-box Ideas that you think we should explore further?

Indigenous Speaker Series - Session 3
Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at NorQuest College (10215 108 St NW, Edmonton), for the third session of the Indigenous Speaker Series.
The evening will begin with an opening by Elder Bert Auger, a respected Cree Elder and member of the Whitefish Lake First Nation #459. Crystal Kootenay-Thompson, recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her work on election law for Alexander Nation, will lead the session.
The keynote speaker, Brooks Arcand-Paul, MLA for Edmonton-West Henday, will share his journey to becoming a lawyer and MLA. He will explore governance on reserves, the challenges of colonial systems, and how Rotary clubs can support reconciliation efforts.

FoMD Global Health Fundraiser
Join the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry's Global Health Program for their annual fundraiser, supporting international training opportunities for residents and faculty from partner sites and activities of the Medical Students Association (MSA).
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Bernard Snell Hall.

Rotary International & District Conferences
With the Rotary International Conference taking place in Calgary this June, District 5370 Rotarians are encouraged to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend.
To minimize travel costs, the District has decided to host two mini-conferences: one in Edmonton and one in Lloydminster. TheEdmonton conference will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 & 25, 2025, at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) PIC Building.
