Last Meeting Recap
At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jan Fox and John Donner, who shared their valuable insights into their work with the Indigenous community. In addition to covering a range of important topics, they introduced us to the Approaches to Reconciliation Model, which highlights three different ways individuals can engage in the important work of reconciliation, no matter where they are starting from.
This model emphasizes that reconciliation is accessible to all Canadians who are open to new perspectives and willing to listen and learn. Here's a brief overview of the three approaches:
Listening to and learning from: For those new to reconciliation, this approach allows individuals to begin privately, without fear of judgment. It involves listening to and learning from Indigenous peoples to gain a foundational understanding.
Walking with and learning from: This approach is for those who have some understanding and feel ready to engage more publicly. It involves walking alongside Indigenous peoples, deepening one's commitment in a more visible and active way.
Working with and learning from: The final approach is the most involved, requiring individuals to navigate complex relationships and address power imbalances. It calls for humility and deep listening, which are essential for building meaningful relationships and making progress in reconciliation.
If you're interested in learning more about these approaches, we encourage you to explore further by checking out this article.

Self-Care Corner
As fall approaches, it's not just the weather that changes—our routines and mental wellness can be affected too. The transition from sunny days and flip-flops to cooler temperatures and cozy boots can bring about more than just a change in wardrobe. The shorter days and chilly weather might lead to feelings of loneliness or seasonal stress, and the holiday season can add its own layer of anxiety.
To help you navigate these changes, we want to share this article that compiles six practical tips to support your mental wellness this fall.
How can we tell our story?
If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
