Next Meeting

At our next meeting, Wendy McDonald will be presenting on behalf of Inclusion Alberta. Her talk, “25 Years of the Rotary Employment Partnership,” will highlight the history and impact of this initiative, the value of inclusive employment for individuals with intellectual disabilities and businesses, and how our members can continue to support a project that proudly began at the Mayfield Rotary Club.

For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom login for the meeting is Meeting ID 780 222 3440 Passcode Mayfield

Last meeting recap

At our last meeting, we were pleased to welcome Ramesh Ferris for an engaging online presentation. A polio survivor, Rotarian, and 2025–2026 District Governor (5370) based in Whitehorse, Yukon, Ramesh shared his powerful journey as a longtime champion of End Polio Now. His global impact has earned him multiple honours, including Rotary International’s International Service Award. If you missed the presentation, we invite you to watch this video to learn more about his story.

A foundation Moment

WHAT ARE DISTRICT AND GLOBAL GRANTS?

The Rotary Foundation has spent more than US$4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world. Rotary members can work with communities through Foundation grants, and two key options are district and global grants.

District grants fund small-scale, short-term activities that address needs in your community and communities abroad. Your district chooses what activities it will fund with these grants, such as humanitarian projects, scholarships, youth programs, or vocational training teams. Global grants fund large, international activities with sustainable and measurable results in Rotary’s areas of focus. These can include humanitarian projects, scholarships for graduate-level study, or vocational training teams.

Upcoming Events and Volunteer Opportunities

Stop Hunger Meal Packaging

📅 Date: March 7, 2026
📍 Location: Salvation Army Church - 165 Liberton Drive, St. Albert

Join us for the annual Stop Hunger Meal Packaging event. Our goal is to produce 70,000 meals, with 15–20% supporting the local food bank and the remainder sent internationally to communities where we’re installing playgrounds.

Teams of 8 volunteers will package meals, and we’re aiming to field two teams, with hopes of involving Interactors from Eastglen and/or Jasper Place. Timing will be confirmed soon, with morning and afternoon shifts of about 3.5 hours each.

You can register here.

Edmonton South Impact Gala

📅 Date: March 12, 2026
📍 Location: Edmonton Expo Centre

The Rotary Club of Edmonton South has extended an invitation to our members to attend their upcoming Impact Gala.

This signature event celebrates Rotary’s impact locally and internationally, with proceeds supporting neonatal care initiatives here in Edmonton and in Uganda. It’s a great example of Rotary clubs coming together to create meaningful, life-changing impact for mothers and newborns.

The brochure below includes full event details and a link for those who would like to attend and purchase tickets.

If you’re unable to attend but would still like to support this initiative, they are also hosting a 50/50 raffle, which offers an easy way to contribute to the cause.

Rotaraction for Change Fundraiser Gala

📅 Date: March 14, 2026

📍 Location: Lorelei Beaumaris Community League

The University of Alberta Rotaract Club is hosting its 11th annual fundraising gala, Rotaraction for Change. This year’s event supports Water Warriors YEG, a volunteer-run organization providing water, food, clothing, hygiene products, and harm-reduction support to unhoused individuals in Edmonton, with a strong focus on Indigenous communities.

Tickets are $40 until February 28 and $45 after, and include dinner and coat check. The evening will feature a silent auction, 50/50, activities, a full-service bar, and a photo booth, offering a fun night out while supporting an important local cause.

You can get your tickets here.

District Conference 2026

📅 Date: May 15 - 17, 2026

📍 Location: Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre
1171 Front St, Whitehorse, YT.

With outstanding keynote speakers, the District Conference 2026 is a great opportunity to learn, be inspired, and connect with fellow Rotarians. This year is especially meaningful for our club, as our very own Jeanette Bancarz will be inducted as District Governor.

If you’d like to join us, you can register and learn more about the event here.

Get Involved: Join a Committee This Year

Looking for a meaningful way to get more involved this year? Serving on a club committee is a great way to volunteer your time, learn new skills, and contribute directly to the work that moves our club forward. Committees offer a chance to collaborate, share ideas, and shape the projects and initiatives that matter most to our community.

Whether you’re new to Rotary or a long-time member, your perspective and energy are valuable. If you’re interested in joining a committee or want to learn more about the options available, please reach out. We’d love to have you involved.

Members Anniversaries

We’re launching a new section on our social media channels to celebrate (and brag a little 😉) about the incredible members of our club and the unique stories behind their Rotary journeys.

We invite all members to share a Personal Expression Statement highlighting the impact Rotary has had on your life, and the difference you’ve made through Rotary. This is your chance to tell your story, your way, and inspire others along the way.

Please Use this link to submit your story.

Victoria will be reaching out to you directly close to your anniversary month to ask for a picture we could use.

How can we tell our story?

If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
