Recap: Presentation by Project Amigo Canada Society

At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Darel Baker, who gave an insightful presentation about Project Amigo Canada Society. This remarkable organization is dedicated to lifting youth out of poverty in Suchitlan, Colima, Mexico, through education. Without support, these young people face significant challenges in achieving even a basic education.

Project Amigo's mission is to support youth from lower-income families by providing access to continuous education—from elementary school to technical school or university—empowering them to reach their highest potential. Our club members in attendance expressed interest in supporting a student, with the cost being $1,000 per year.

For more information, you can follow Project Amigo Canada Society on Facebook.

Motions

The club decided by motion that we would support the fundraisers of the causes we support (including but not limited to Heal International, ICChange, Lead with Seeds, UofA Global Health) by purchasing two tickets to attend their annual fundraisers.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, and we are pleased to feature special guests Jan Fox and John Dotter, co-chairs of the District Indigenous Committee. They will share valuable insights into their work with the Indigenous community and discuss how our club can contribute to the Sacred Lands project and other initiatives to support Indigenous communities.

This event is open to everyone, so please feel free to invite potential members to join us. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about how we can make a meaningful impact together.

For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom login for the meeting is Meeting ID 780 222 3440 Passcode Mayfield

Self-Care Corner - adding LIFE to your days!

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to focus on just getting through each day. However, true self-care involves enriching your daily experiences and finding joy in the present moment.

Instead of stressing about extending the number of days you have, focus on making each day meaningful and fulfilling. Here are some tips to add more life to your days:

  • Practice Mindfulness: Take time to be present and appreciate the small moments.
  • Engage in Activities You Love: Whether it’s a hobby, exercise, or spending time with loved ones, prioritize what brings you joy.
  • Set Boundaries: Make time for yourself and your needs, and don’t be afraid to say no when necessary.
  • Reflect and Appreciate: End each day by reflecting on what you’re grateful for and what made you smile.

By focusing on adding life to your days, you'll create a richer, more fulfilling experience every day. Embrace the moments that make life beautiful and let each day be a testament to the life you’re living.
