There will be no regular meeting this Wednesday as we’ll be celebrating with the kids at Brightview School for our annual year-end BBQ.
Our next meeting will be on July 2nd, where Jeanette Bancarz will lead a reflective discussion on our key highlights and takeaways from both the District and Rotary International Conferences.
Last Meeting Recap
At our last meeting, we had some great and engaging conversations!
Samar introduced an update for an exciting new project our club will be supporting in Kenya. We also heard from Jen, who shared a bit about herself and sparked an interesting discussion around the current real estate landscape. It was a great chance to learn more about her and hear firsthand insights on a topic that affects many of us.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to a thoughtful and energizing meeting!
Motions
At our June 4 meeting, two motions were presented and both were approved:
Companion Club Membership Fee Adjustment
The club approved an updated fee structure allowing Companion Club members to pay a reduced annual rate, similar to the reduced rates offered to other membership categories.
Changeover Dinner Subsidy
A $30 subsidy was approved for each newly inducted Companion Club member attending the Changeover Dinner. This subsidy aligns with the cost of a regular lunch at our meetings.
A Message from Dr. Ron Lett
Dear Zahir
Please convey my gratitude to the Mayfield Rotary club for your hospitality, the Integrity Award, and the Paul Harris Fellowship. I am honoured that you would nominate me for these prestigious recognitions. I will be off to Dodoma on July 5th, together with an Ontario Obstetrician, to teach our obstetrics course. There have been some challenges at this location, so I have to take an extra trip there to troubleshoot some issues. Development with patience works out, but it is not always smooth. That means this trip is not included in the regular budget. I know I am always asking but I know Mayfield will always help if able. If you have any unallocated funds CNIS would appreciate your help again.
I hope you saw the CNIS newsletter highlights which are attached
All the best
- Ron -

Introducing Our New Companion Club: Impact by the RCEM
As part of our ongoing commitment to grow Rotary and adapt to the diverse needs of our members, we are thrilled to announce the launch of a new way to serve and stay connected: Impact by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield. A flexible, project-driven model of Rotary designed for busy lives without losing the heart of Rotary service!
What is the Difference?
RCEM (Host Club) vs Impact by RCEM (Companion Club)
Format: Bi-monthly meetings, events, and service | Project-based service & social gatherings
Structure: Full Rotary experience with formal roles | Flexible engagement with lighter structure
Best For: Traditional Rotary format | Busy schedules or family commitments
Both options share the same mission, values, and community spirit, and all members are still part of our Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield family!
Thinking of Switching?
If the IMPACT format better suits your schedule, lifestyle, or financial comfort level, switching is
easy:
Leave the Sponsor section blank (not required for current members)
We'll update your membership details and adjust your dues accordingly.
Help Us Grow Think of Someone You Know
We encourage you to think about family members, friends, co-workers, or anyone in your network who is community-minded and may benefit from a coordinated, meaningful approach to volunteering without a heavy time or financial commitment. The Companion Club could be the perfect fit for them.
Celebrate the Launch with Us
Well officially launch the Companion Club during our Changeover Dinner, and you're invited!
If you have questions about the Companion Club or your membership options, feel free to reach out to: jeanette@centennial.ca.

Happy Father's Day

Celebrating 50 Years of Service
As we prepare for our 50th anniversary in 2027, we’re building something meaningful to honour our club’s journey, and we need your help to make it complete.
For the past few months, the 50th Anniversary Committee has been collecting stories, photos, and memories from members to create a commemorative project that reflects who we are and the impact we’ve made together. Your voice matters. Every memory shared helps us paint a fuller picture of our club’s legacy.
If you haven’t yet, please take a few minutes to contribute using this Form.Whether it’s a favorite event, a moment of service, or a photo that brings back memories, we’d love to include it.
Have questions or something specific to share? Reach out to Jim Galpin, our Club Historian.
How can we tell our story?
If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
