Last Meeting

During our last meeting, we had the honor of hosting Tim Parker, author of Trapped by the High. Tim gave an interesting talk about the pros and cons of decriminalization versus legalization, sparking thoughtful discussions among our members.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th. We will discuss our fundraising strategy. This is a crucial opportunity for us to brainstorm ideas and collaborate on ways to enhance our club's fundraising efforts.

We will also welcome Darel Baker from Project Amigo Canada Society. Darel will share insights into how this remarkable organization helps lift youth out of poverty through education in Suchitlan, Colima, Mexico. Without support, these young people face significant challenges in achieving even a basic education.

About Project Amigo Canada Society:

  • Mission: The society is dedicated to supporting youth from lower-income families in Suchitlan, ensuring they have access to continuous education from elementary school to technical school or university levels, empowering them to achieve their highest potential.

  • History: Established on September 17th, 2009, under the Alberta Societies Act, Project Amigo Canada Society is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors. They provide oversight and contribute their time, talent, and resources to support children in poverty, offering education and much-needed social assistance.

  • Volunteer Opportunities: Each winter, Canadian volunteers travel to Suchitlan for service weeks, where they meet the students and learn more about the people and culture of western Mexico.

During Darel's presentation, you'll learn how you can make a difference by sponsoring a student's tuition, providing a backpack of supplies, or participating in a volunteer service week. Join us to discover how you can help transform the lives of young people in Suchitlan!

For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom login for the meeting is Meeting ID 780 222 3440 Passcode Mayfield

Self-Care Corner: Discover the Self-Care Wheel

The Self-Care Wheel, created by Olga Phoenix in 2013, is the world's most popular and comprehensive self-care tool. Featured in media outlets such as Thrive Global, Popsugar, and Women's Health, this tool has touched the lives of over 1 million individuals across 80+ countries. It has transformed self-care from an occasional treat into an essential, sustainable lifestyle component, helping people restore balance, beat burnout, and dramatically boost their well-being.

The Self-Care Wheel, along with the Self-Care Wheel Assessment and the Create-Your-Own Self-Care Wheel tools, started a global movement by emphasizing self-care as a fundamental part of life. These tools have empowered countless individuals and organizations to prioritize health and well-being, resulting in improved life satisfaction, stronger relationships, and enhanced joy and fulfillment.

You can experience the benefits for yourself by downloading the FREE Self-Care Wheel Toolkit, which includes all three tools for personal use.

If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
