Next Meeting

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd.

Our club is proud to have sponsored Elaine Junk for part of her expenses on a volunteer trip to Bujumbura, Burundi, where she dedicated her time and skills to support the Burundi English School.

Elaine will be sharing her experiences with us, giving members a chance to learn firsthand about the impact of education and service across the globe. If you want to learn more, visit www.tanburafrican.org.

For those who cannot attend in person, the Zoom login for the meeting is Meeting ID 780 222 3440 Passcode Mayfield

Last Meeting Recap

At our last meeting, Victoria shared insights on the importance of both internal and external communications for our club; why they matter and how we can better tell our Rotary story. Members also contributed great ideas on how to increase engagement within our community.

Interested in being part of our communications efforts? We meet on the last Saturday of every month from 10:00–11:00 am, and we’d love to have you join the conversation.

Rotary EFOH Satellite Club – Documentary Screening Invitation

The EFOH (End Forced Organ Harvesting) Satellite Rotary Club recently hosted two screenings of the award-winning documentary State Organs at the Calgary Central Library during the RI Convention, drawing 132 attendees, including 35 Rotarians. The screenings were deeply moving and well received.

They are now co-sponsoring another screening in Edmonton and have invited us to attend this important event:

About the Film
Directed by Raymond Zhang, State Organs: Unmasking Transplant Abuse in China has received 39 international awards and was an official contender for Best Documentary Feature at the 97th Academy Awards. The film follows two families searching for loved ones who vanished in police custody, only to uncover a state-run organ harvesting operation that persists today.

This powerful film doesn’t just inform, it challenges us to confront disturbing truths and take a stand. The screening will be followed by a moderated Q&A with leading experts in medicine, ethics, and human rights.

Dr. Sinclair will lead a timely discussion on Truth and Reconciliation, exploring the ongoing journey of healing and justice between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Participants will reflect on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, the importance of education and allyship, and the role we all play in building a more respectful society.

Self-Care Corner

🌿 Self-Care Tip: Reconnect with Friends

As summer winds down and routines settle back into place, it’s easy to feel a little sluggish or disconnected. One of the best ways to boost your mood and energy is to intentionally reconnect with friends and loved ones.

Plan a coffee date, a walk in the park, attend an event, or even a quick phone call to catch up. These small moments of connection can bring joy, reduce stress, and remind you that you’re supported. Social connection is a powerful form of self-care, so make it part of your September routine. Check out what is happening in Edmonton here.

How can we tell our story?
