Membership Newsletter
Feb 4, 2024
February is Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month. Peace is at the heart of our humanitarian mission. We believe that when people work together to create peace in their communities, it can have a global impact. Through service projects, peace fellowships, and scholarships, our members take action to address the root causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, and lack of access to education. In 2023 our club became a Peacebuilder club. Rotarian Peacebuilder Clubs commit to engage in dialogues and projects that promote positive peace both in their communities and across the globe.

Next Business Meeting

Our upcoming business meeting is set for February 7th, 2024.  We will host the RYLE Committee, who will talk about the Rotary Youth Leadership Experience (RYLE) camp and provide information about how Rotary clubs can sponsor students.

RYLE is an annual conference hosted by the RYLE Committee and sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of District 5370. This experience is intended for high school students who would like to gain or strengthen their leadership skills and learn how to be active citizens striving to make a positive impact in the world. The programming of the camp has three main focuses: interpersonal growth, communication, and community building, as well as global citizenship. Students are encouraged to participate on a challenge-by-choice basis, and ample opportunities are given for each participant to express their individuality and test their strengths.

Zoom login for the meeting is Meeting ID 780 222 3440 Passcode Mayfield

The event supports funding for residents and faculty from international partner sites to receive further training at the University of Alberta, as well as the activities of the Medical Students Association (MSA) and the Students Invested in Health Association (SIHA). It also provides an opportunity for networking and socializing among learners, faculty, and those interested in Global Health. Self-Care Corner

Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup. Before extending a helping hand to others, take a moment for a self-checkup and assess how you are doing. Everyone's 'healthiest self' varies, considering the differences in our bodies, minds, living situations, and the people influencing our lives. Each of these aspects can significantly impact our overall well-being, resulting in unique health needs for each individual. Today, we are excited to share wellness toolkits aimed at enhancing your well-being in any area you choose. How do you plan to fill your cup this week?

Impact Challenge

Our Rotary Global Impact Challenge is officially open for submissions! If you know of anyone working to make a difference in Edmonton, please tell them about this initiative. People can learn more about the challenge and submit their applications here.

How can we tell our story?

If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.

Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
