Last meeting recap

At our last meeting, we were pleased to welcome Dr. Nizar J. Somji, the University of Alberta’s 23rd Chancellor. He shared an insightful perspective on how research universities like the U of A help build strong communities, expand opportunity, and prepare globally minded Canadians.
We also welcomed special visitors: Rebecca, President-Elect, and Justine from the Rotary Club of Mienga Tankhill, Uganda, along with Tony from the Rotary Club of Arua, Uganda. It was a great meeting filled with fellowship and the start of some fantastic conversations.
Save the Date: Fork It Over 2026

Fork It Over 2026 is officially set for October 17, 2026, at the River Cree, and as always, we’re planning a fabulous, fun-filled night. This year’s theme is Oktoberfest, and we’re excited to welcome back Gery Shubert (aka Helmut Hammerhosen) as our entertainer and auctioneer.
Planning is underway! We’ll meet on Saturday, the 7th, during our regular Saturday Virtual Coffee at 9:30 a.m. Many hands are needed, so if you’d like to volunteer, your help is very welcome.
IMPACT Club News
Veteran's Food Bank

Members and friends help the Veteran's Assoc. Food Bank on Saturday, Jan 31. Members Wayne McCutcheon, Mike Brandingen and wife Debbie, Jen & Rena Liviniuk, Issa Kamara, Marilyn Mucha, Carissa Barton, John Nypuik and member prospect Lauren Mickel and Danny Maradyn gathered to clean up and sort the donated food bins and books.
They learned about the supports and connections provided to all veterans who completed bootcamp and had an honourable discharge, but are in need of social contacts and food security. It was a rewarding experience.
TBT: Holiday Hamper Program

Rotary IMPACT members stepped up to help load “Elves’” cars with frozen turkeys or fish, and all the fixings, for a holiday feast as part of the Holiday Hamper Program.
The Holiday Hamper Program brings joy to Edmonton families who need it most by pairing community “Elves” with local families to shop, pack, and deliver festive meals. This year, 2,200 families enjoyed a brighter holiday season thanks to this incredible effort.
On Saturday, December 20, IMPACT members Wayne McCutcheon, Pepe Villareal, Len Chanasyk, Marilyn Mucha, and friend Danny Maradyn braved four hours of cold outside the EXPO Centre, alongside 300+ volunteers, to keep cars moving smoothly through delivery lanes.
A truly satisfying service project, and one that brought smiles all around.
