Next Meeting

At our next meeting, we’ll welcome Darel Baker, a member of the Rotary Club of St. Albert and President of Project Amigo Canada.

Darel was introduced to Project Amigo in 2018 and, after several years of delays, joined his first Service Week in Mexico in February 2022. Since then, he has returned to Cofradía de Suchitlán several times for Service Weeks and Board meetings, building strong relationships with the local staff and community.

On Wednesday, Darel will share more about Project Amigo, the impact of its work, and the many ways Rotarians can get involved.

Our meeting is held at the Chateau Nova Yellowhead. Come in the conference door and look for the banner. If you cannot come in person, please join us by Zoom: Meeting ID 780 222 3440; Passcode Mayfield.

Last Meeting Recap – ShelterBox

At our last meeting, we were pleased to welcome Ally Buck from ShelterBox Canada, who joined us online to share more about ShelterBox and its partnership with Rotary.

Ally gave us a closer look at how ShelterBox supports communities affected by disasters and humanitarian crises, and the important role Rotary plays in helping provide emergency shelter and essential supplies to families when they need them most.

Past Events

Honouring Indigenous People: Treaty Talk

We had the opportunity to attend Honouring Indigenous People: Treaty Talk on Monday, August 24, featuring Jan Fox and Ron Lameman.

It was a valuable opportunity to listen, learn, and deepen our understanding of Indigenous perspectives and the importance of our shared commitment to reconciliation.

Connecting with Indigenous Leaders

Rose and John Donner, President of the Rotary Club of Edmonton West, recently attended an event hosted by the Native Counselling Services of Alberta, featuring two Indigenous MLAs from Alberta.

They had the opportunity to hear from Jody Calahoo Stonehouse, MLA for Edmonton-Rutherford and the first First Nations woman elected to Alberta’s provincial legislature, and Brooks Arcand-Paul, MLA for Edmonton-West Henday and Alberta’s first Two-Spirit MLA.

It was a meaningful opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with leaders working to strengthen Indigenous voices and communities across Alberta.

Kicks for Kids

A big thank you to Wayne, Rose, and Issa for volunteering with KARA’s Kicks for Kids program!

Families registered for the program came to a Northeast Edmonton location with their children, where volunteers helped each child select and try on new shoes. Each child was able to choose a pair to take home. One of the families our volunteers helped had eight children!

Thank you to our members for giving their time and helping make sure local kids can start the school year with a new pair of shoes.

Get Involved: Join a Committee This Year

Looking for a meaningful way to get more involved this year? Serving on a club committee is a great way to volunteer your time, learn new skills, and contribute directly to the work that moves our club forward. Committees offer a chance to collaborate, share ideas, and shape the projects and initiatives that matter most to our community.

Whether you’re new to Rotary or a long-time member, your perspective and energy are valuable. If you’re interested in joining a committee or want to learn more about the options available, please reach out. We’d love to have you involved.

Members Anniversaries

We’re launching a new section on our social media channels to celebrate (and brag a little 😉) about the incredible members of our club and the unique stories behind their Rotary journeys.

We invite all members to share a Personal Expression Statement highlighting the impact Rotary has had on your life, and the difference you’ve made through Rotary. This is your chance to tell your story, your way, and inspire others along the way.

Please Use this link to submit your story. Or email Victoria directly with your story.

How can we tell our story?

If you are working on a project or event or if you want to share your Rotary journey with others, we want to hear about it. And if you attend an event, take pictures or videos and send them to Victoria. We will use these for social media and bulletin posts.
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
We invite you to join us at an upcoming meeting.
